In a city that is often captivated by political races, the Washington International Horse Show held at the Capital One Arena can be a nice change of pace. The 60th annual event runs from October 23rd to the 28th this year, and it will feature some of the finest equestrian athletes in the world (including multiple Olympians) in one of the sport’s top indoor events.
You’ll find more than 500 horses and riders at the junior, senior, amateur and professional levels competing in show jumping, steeplechase, hunt, and puissance events. Youngsters should not miss Thursday’s Barn Night activities, which feature Halloween-themed entertainment and the adorable Shetland Pony Steeplechase, or Kids Day on Saturday October 27. In addition to the competition, there will be exhibitors, vendors, and specialty boutiques. Tickets are available at the Capital One Arena box office now, or via the event’s website.
