Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. may have passed, but his legacy of kindness, peace, and, most importantly, equality lives on. That’s why he’s still celebrated across the country every January on Martin Luther King Day, held right around the Civil Rights leader’s birthday. Commemorate his legacy this year at the 38th Annual MLK Parade on Monday, January 21st.
Fittingly enough, the parade begins at the corner of Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue and Good Hope Road. Find a spot along the parade route and watch as activists, community leaders, and performers flood the streets in honor of the fallen MLK. Their spirit of love and acceptance, and refusal to accept the status quo, mirrors the same balance of softness and fire that characterized Dr. King. The celebration kicks off at 11:30 a.m.
